Internal Programmes
Continuous Professional Development
This is aimed at all Security Officers, regardless of their grade, site or gender .It is an ongoing project, with no completion date. Officers undergo a 1 – 4 hour training session every week, usually before or after shift change. The objective is to continuously ensure all our staff are up to date with requirements and ensure continuous development. The course topics are set for a year at a time; however the site manager has the right to change the week’s topic if other issues require attention. The facilitation is conducted on site, at the SO’s workplace where site specific examples or Site Job Descriptions are referred to. Attendance registers are signed by each Officer, and on successful completion, they receive a certificate of completion.
Learnerships
Enforce is committed to fund the training of at least 5% of all staff on the national certificate: General Security Practices. There are no restrictions on learners who may enter this programme, and it is free of charge to all Enforce Employees. It is an ongoing project and we currently (2011) have 980 Security Officers on the Learnership.
Skills Development for Black Women
In line with the national focus on skills upliftment for Black Women, we have looked at addressing this demographic within Enforce. We have funded and trained 140 Black Women in a short skills programme consisting of 3 Unit Standards. These Unit Standards (below) form the basis of the entry level (E Grade Equivalent) SASSETA skills programmes, as well as the Security Qualification: General Security Practices.
Induction Training
All new security officers employed by Enforce, after intense vetting, background checks and interviews, undergo an induction programme whereby they are drilled, paraded, trained and the company expectations, policies and procedures are communicated.
Note: All the above programmes are aligned to SAQA requirements and facilitated by our accredited training centre; therefore the learner (Security Officer) will receive recognised certificates as well as “lifelong” credits for the courses he/she has completed.
Job Specific Training (Internal)
The above programmes are formally structured; however this is not the sum total of the training we conduct.
