A Joint Training Venture between Enforce Security Services and Transnet National Ports Authority, culminated in an elaborate graduation ceremony which was held recently at The Royal Natal Yacht Club to honour learners who have successful completed a National Certificate in General Security Practice.
In it’s endeavour to improve security in and around it’s premises and provide development opportunities to South Africans , the Port of Durban recently offered a security learnership to 30 trainees; 10 of whom were unemployed.
The 30 men and women have since May 2008 been engaged in intensive security training provided on behalf of the TNPA by Enforce Security Services at the Enforce Training Academy in Durban.
The 10 unemployed trainees were sourced by Enforce Security and the Department of Labour. The learnership, which is accredited by the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA), has 120 credits on level 3 of the National Qualification Framework (NQF).
The trainees were divided into three groups. While one group undergoes theoretical training, the other two groups were engaged in on- the- job training.
A highly successful learnership of this magnitude augers well for the future and the relationship created between Enforce Security Services, TNPA, Department of Labour and the SETA’s.
